STEM programs for middle school students, funded by DuPont

The Delaware Museum of Natural History has received grant funding from DuPont to provide virtual STEM programming to middle school classrooms in underserved areas at no charge. These programs are STEM-career oriented and are 30-45 minutes each. They will provide students with an opportunity to explore and practice the skills required in different STEM careers and occupations, and each program includes an opportunity for classes to interact with a STEM-professional.

The Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics Division has four Associate in Science degree programs: Mathematics & Natural Science (MNS), Science for Health Professions (HSCI) and Engineering (EGR). The courses in these programs are affordable (lower than all four-year post-secondary institutions in the region), transferable (to most area colleges and universities), and relevant (fulfill the freshman and sophomore year requirements of most area colleges and universities).

Wesley College Cannon Scholars

Wesley College implemented the Cannon Scholars Program in 2014 to recruit and retain academically talented students in biological chemistry, biology, environmental science, and mathematics. The Cannon Scholar program is supported through NSF and NIH grants that provide scholarships, academic mentoring, and career advising support to STEM majors who demonstrate financial need and maintain an annual cumulative GPA of 2.7.
