As employers demand for mathematicians and engineers has grown, so too has the availability of STEM education programs. These programs provide students with opportunities to carve out a future job in a well-paid field. Even an entry-level STEM job earns1, on average, 26% higher salary for positions requiring a bachelor’s degree; and there are 2.5 times as many entry-level STEM jobs to choose from, as compared to non-STEM jobs.

A regional perspective for Georgia’s workforce development makes sense for several reasons. Georgia’s vast geography and large population, as well as the state’s diverse mixture of urban, suburban, and rural areas and multiple sectors, challenge the idea of a “one-size-fits-all” approach to workforce development for Georgia’s STEM economy. In short, what works for Atlanta may not necessarily be appropriate for Macon or Valdosta. Efforts to improve STEM education and workforce preparation ultimately benefit Georgia as a whole, but economic growth remains local. It remains incumbent for regions and their communities to become selfreliant, if interdependent economic engines for STEM that involve each region’s schools, colleges and universities, and industries.

CK-12 is an online platform for students and teachers that provides information on a multitude of subjects and disciplines. The educator version of the site offers a range of math resources from elementary principles to calculus. Science categories include Earth science, biology, chemistry and physics. Using CK-12’s FlexBook feature, teachers can put together chapters from textbooks in any of these subjects to create customized lesson plans. The Albertus Magnus College community was overjoyed to host the 2019 Connecticut STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Academy camp on August 6, 2019.
CT STEM Academy was established in 2012 as a collaborative program between the Wallingford Youth and Social Services and the Spanish Community of Wallingford (SCOW) with support from the Wallingford Rotary Club and Connecticut Education Association. The Academy is open to the general population, and 50% of the students are Hispanic.
The Connecticut STEM Fair continues its tradition of comprehensive judging and interaction between the students and professionals.

STEM Extra Curricular Activities
Calvert Hall's STEM program is a comprehensive certificate program integrating academic courses with extracurricular activities, self-directed study, or internships in all four areas of STEM. Our STEM program is designed to encourage students in the skills of problem-solving, discovery, and investigative learning. Formal classroom experiences and extracurricular activities will engage students in the practical application of STEM and 21st century skills. Any rising sophomore is eligible to participate and must request status by notifying the STEM Coordinator in the summer between the freshman and sophomore years. STEM candidates participate in the program during the sophomore, junior and senior years. STEM candidates must satisfy all requirements to continue in the STEM program each year and be acknowledged as a STEM graduate.

I started Career In STEM in May of 2017 out of the frustrations I experienced as an inner city middle and high school science teacher in Hartford, CT. My students had no idea what they wanted to be. The truth is, you won’t, and I couldn’t find a fun and easy way to help my students learn about STEM careers – so I made one, and Career In STEM was born!

Fairmont State University and its partners throughout the state have received over $2.6 million dollars to continue funding West Virginia’s FIRST2 STEM Student Success Alliance. Rhode Island Joins National Initiative to Engage One-Million STEM Mentors to Support Women & Girls
Today, Governor Rick Scott announced $1 million in proposed funding to partner with high-tech companies in Florida to create a paid summer residency program for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) teachers to bring new industry trends in STEM fields back to Florida’s K-12 classrooms. In addition to the summer residency program, Governor Scott’s 2015-2016 “Keep Florida Working” Budget also proposes $30 million for a new workforce training initiative focused on STEM occupations and $5 million to incentivize $10,000 STEM degrees at our state colleges.
Governor's STEM Academies are programs designed to expand options for the general student population to acquire STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) literacy and other critical skills, knowledge and credentials that will prepare them for high-demand, high-wage, and high-skill careers in Virginia. PA STEM Experiences for Equity and Diversity (SEED) Ecosystem is a collaborative between school districts, libraries, Intermediate Units, post-secondary institutions, and environmental education centers along with growing public/private partnerships like those forged with the United Way, Chester County Economic Development Council (CCED) or Corbett Incorporated. The STEM Learning Ecosystem spans four counties is focused on collectively leveraging resources to ensure all students in the region have robust STEM experiences P-20. With over 300,000 STEM related jobs in Pennsylvania by 2018, 17,000 vacant computer science jobs, and employers clamoring for a workforce that has problem solving communication, and computational thinking skills the STEM Learning Ecosystem will help generate STEM pathways for students. Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Intermediate Units build the foundation for the STEM Ecosystem. The Intermediate Units’ experience providing professional learning across the continuum of school professionals along with technical assistance from district to classroom level allows for an understanding of the opportunities within the region. With over 25 private, NGO, and/or philanthropic partners, 15 post-secondary partners and support from the Pennsylvania Department of Education the Intermediate Units collectively offer a suite of STEM educational services that act as the foundation for a STEM Learning Ecosystem.
The PA STEM Girls Collaborative Project brings together organizations throughout Pennsylvania that are committed to informing and motivating girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The Pennsylvania STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Initiative was an education partnership between Team Pennsylvania and numerous partners. The goal was to dramatically increase the number of students entering STEM-related careers while also retaining, recruiting and re-training the incumbent workforce in these critical fields.
The STEM Toolkit Workgroup will identify and/or design, review, and curate integrated K-12 STEM lessons that are coherent with the Pennsylvania Department of Education's vision, mission, and belief structure for STEM Education. The Providence After School Alliance’s STEM Ecosystem consists of a team of informal community educators, middle school math and science teachers, district curriculum heads, STEM related businesses serving on PASA’s Business Engagement committee, the Rhode Island STEM Center, faculty from RI College’s School of Education, and faculty from the University of Rhode Island. The primary focus of our STEM Ecosystem is to help improve STEM inquiry practices in Providence’s middle school summer STEM program and transfer lessons learned to PASA’s middle and high school after school systems.
The Providence After School Alliance (PASA) mission is to expand and improve quality expanded learning opportunities for Providence middle and high school youth by organizing a citywide public/private system. The Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) announced today that Rhode Island is one of six states to be awarded a STEM apprenticeship grant from the U.S. Department of Education. This $500,000 grant will fund the launch of the Rhode Island Youth Apprenticeship Program, an apprenticeship program that starts during senior year, with more than 100 students statewide placed in apprenticeship positions in cybersecurity and data analysis by 2022.

The program to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education is an innovative proposal to produce competitive students in the STEM disciplines. The primary purpose of this project is to increase and broaden underrepresented minority participation in the nation’s STEM workforce through focused recruitment, retention and mentoring programs, and by successfully graduating students in STEM disciplines. Kentucky State University is the only historically black college or university (HBCU) in Kentucky and has significant potential for training minority students in STEM fields.
LetGoYourMind Summer STEM Programs offer structured day programs where kids can experiment with LEGO bricks, and learn the basics of design and engineering while having a blast! Our summer programs run for one week long, Monday through Friday, 9 AM - 3 PM. We offer separate classes for children of all ages to ensure that learning occurs and students are engaged.

STEM for Kids® of Central Virginia provides educational enrichment in Robotics, Engineering and Computer Programming for children in grades preK – 8 (elementary and middle school) through camps, afterschool programs, in-school field trips and STEM workshops.

Technology and engineering, both critical dimensions of our modern global economy and society, require mastery in science and advanced math.
The Delaware Museum of Natural History has received grant funding from DuPont to provide virtual STEM programming to middle school classrooms in underserved areas at no charge. These programs are STEM-career oriented and are 30-45 minutes each. They will provide students with an opportunity to explore and practice the skills required in different STEM careers and occupations, and each program includes an opportunity for classes to interact with a STEM-professional.
Robots, slingshots, solar cars, oh my! Tuesday was Science, Engineering, Math and Technology (STEM) Day at the Capitol. Students of all ages from Tallahassee Lego Robotics Club brought their Lego robots to the Capitol to demonstrate them. This year's Lego League theme was space.

As afterschool programs have expanded their offerings, many providers and funders have seen STEM as a natural fit for the setting. The strong focus on youth development allows for youthdriven exploration that can provide students with opportunities to immerse themselves in STEM learning, which complements the school day with a different approach to teaching and learning. There is room for experimentation and failure, and time for children to develop strong relationships with mentors and peers—all while gaining knowledge and skills. These are all vital for future access and participation in STEM fields and careers.
The tools from STEM-Works make STEM education more fun for teachers and students. With subjects like extreme weather, medical innovations, the animal kingdom and under the sea, this online resource takes STEM beyond traditional textbook learning. Articles from a multitude of Internet resources present new information in accessible ways. Unique activities, such as “make your own deep sea vent,” give kids the chance to get hands on as they learn. With STEM-Works, teachers have a variety of useful online tools right at their fingertips and can use them to turn a standard STEM lesson into an experience kids will never forget.

The South Carolina Junior Academy of Science (generally referred to by its acronym SCJAS) is an organization aligned with the South Carolina Academy of Sciences (SCAS). Our main focus is to organize opportunities (workshops and conferences) to enable South Carolina Middle and High School students to expand their STEM knowledge and share their scientific achievements. This week, the Million Women Mentors group in South Carolina is proud to announce the second annual statewide MWM-SC STEM Symposium. This year marks the SEVENTH Annual Southern Virginia STEM-H Summit. This year's event will bring together approximately 200 high school students from throughout the Southern Virginia region. Students will take part in two ninety minute exploratory sessions. Each exploratory session is designed to expose students to a STEM-H field through hands-on exploration. For the ninth year in a row AT&T is partnering with the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations to support student achievement in STEM areas. Following the move into our new space in Littleton at the end of 2018, WMSI settled in over the past year at 23 Ammonoosuc St, bringing creative problem solving and STEM education through programs both tried and new. Several local schools and organizations made WMSI’s MakerSpace their field trip destination, while our biggest summer camp season yet brought many all-new camp themes to our K-6th grade campers. Our teacher professional development workshops expanded to include the regional CS North summit, which brought educators together from all across northern New Hampshire. 2019 saw WMSI grow through Strategic Planning, where staff and board members came together to map out WMSI’s plan to become New England’s STEM idea source. Through it all, WMSI’s Mobile STEM Lab and off-site professional development programs continued their operations and expansion, bringing 21st century skills to over 500 students throughout the region.

Wesley College implemented the Cannon Scholars Program in 2014 to recruit and retain academically talented students in biological chemistry, biology, environmental science, and mathematics. This is the purpose of the STEM Scholars Program: supporting students majoring in STEM fields, such as Biology, Chemistry, and Engineering, where in your first year you will be encouraged to connect with peers who think like you do. You'll also live in the highly-coveted Northside Commons residence hall, in a wing specifically set aside for your fellow STEM scholars.
