The Ambassador Program will be facilitated by PSAYDN through the Center for Schools and Communities. The STEM Education Coalition will provide consultants and presenters throughout the year. The Coalition works to raise awareness about the critical role that STEM education plays in enabling the U.S. to remain the economic and technological leader of the global marketplace of the 21st century. Ron Cowell, a legislative/policy consultant for EPLC, is a trusted leader in education policy. Cowell served as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for 24 years until 1998.
STEM, typically defined as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, has a new meaning at Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania. In our programs, STEM stands for Sparks Curiosity, Teaches Empowered Learning, Establishes Good Habits, and Meets Learners Where They are to Help Them Grow. We believe that the skills developed in STEM programming will grow with learners throughout their entire lives. Our programs are meant to be a both a continuum for students who are part of the larger Boys & Girls Club movement, and accessible for students who would like to experience quality STEM programs to meet their indivudaul passion.

About- Engineering byDesign is available in Pennsylvania through a partnership between the Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 (IU13), the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and the Department of Environmental Education at PDE. Access to the Standard Edition (PDFs) of EbD curriculum is available at no cost to all educators within the state. Each of the 29 Intermediate Units in the state of PA have been trained in EbD and are available to provide you with an overview training and information to access the curriculum. Students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics will find multiple opportunities for success with hands-on experience in mathematics, physics, and safety sciences. The Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics STEM Academy also provides a selected set of courses in science and mathematics that help prepare students for future studies in STEM fields.
Pennsylvania’s K-12 schools are increasing their emphasis on STEM education and encouraging students to consider advanced study and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Employment in these areas is projected to grow to more than 9 million jobs between 2012 and 2022, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In addition, providing STEM education programs in K-12 schools prepares students for life in the 21st century.
For more than a decade, Intermediate Unit 1’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Center has fostered a dynamic partnership between local school districts, institutions of higher education, and the foundation community. We continue to roll-out best practice K–12 STEM programs, and we are committed to providing graduate level courses for educators, implementing research based curricula, and offering summer camps for students.

Interested in teaching STEM courses/content at your school? The STEM program endorsement is intended to improve a teacher's skills in dealing with complex classroom settings. The STEM endorsement is designed to provide additional knowledge and promote skills related to more integrative ways to deliver content in these areas. While the endorsement does not lead to state licensure, it may be added to an existing Level I or Level II Certificate. Millersville’s STEM endorsement courses can also be applied to the Assessment, Curriculum and Teaching Masters in Education Program with the addition of five more courses.
PA STEM Experiences for Equity and Diversity (SEED) Ecosystem is a collaborative between school districts, libraries, Intermediate Units, post-secondary institutions, and environmental education centers along with growing public/private partnerships like those forged with the United Way, Chester County Economic Development Council (CCED) or Corbett Incorporated. The STEM Learning Ecosystem spans four counties is focused on collectively leveraging resources to ensure all students in the region have robust STEM experiences P-20. With over 300,000 STEM related jobs in Pennsylvania by 2018, 17,000 vacant computer science jobs, and employers clamoring for a workforce that has problem solving communication, and computational thinking skills the STEM Learning Ecosystem will help generate STEM pathways for students. Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Intermediate Units build the foundation for the STEM Ecosystem. The Intermediate Units’ experience providing professional learning across the continuum of school professionals along with technical assistance from district to classroom level allows for an understanding of the opportunities within the region. With over 25 private, NGO, and/or philanthropic partners, 15 post-secondary partners and support from the Pennsylvania Department of Education the Intermediate Units collectively offer a suite of STEM educational services that act as the foundation for a STEM Learning Ecosystem.
The PA STEM Girls Collaborative Project brings together organizations throughout Pennsylvania that are committed to informing and motivating girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The Pennsylvania STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Initiative was an education partnership between Team Pennsylvania and numerous partners. The goal was to dramatically increase the number of students entering STEM-related careers while also retaining, recruiting and re-training the incumbent workforce in these critical fields.
The STEM Toolkit Workgroup will identify and/or design, review, and curate integrated K-12 STEM lessons that are coherent with the Pennsylvania Department of Education's vision, mission, and belief structure for STEM Education. Partners: Montgomery County IU, Tuscarora Intermediate Unit, Berks county Intermediate Unit, Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit, Intermediate Unit 1, Lincoln Intermediate Unit, Schuylkill Intermediate Unit, Central Intermediate Unit, Pennsylvania Teachers Advisory Committee, Pennsylvania Department of Education, and Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network Priorities: Diversify and increase the number of Pennsylvania Educators prepared to provide effective STEM Education for every learner. Diversify and increase the number of Pennsylvania students engaged in STEM experiences.
The online Integrative STEM Education Endorsement is for educators who wish to gain knowledge and competencies relevant to teaching and learning STEM. Using course and project work focused on communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity in STEM content areas, the program demonstrates relevant pedagogical approaches as well as project design and grant writing. A distinctive of this program is the emphasis on a holistic understanding of STEM and its contributions and connections to arts and humanities. Students with PA teaching certificates will be eligible for the PDE endorsement upon completion. Students without teacher certification will earn Messiah’s graduate certificate in STEAM upon completion.
Penn State Extension is committed to addressing challenges to improve STEM literacy, to engage youth seeking STEM education and to introduce agricultural careers in STEM fields. STEM subjects help us get good jobs but also help us grasp what it means to be human and to live a good life. These disciplines relate to agriculture through the food we eat, through the energy by which we live, through the environment by which we breath, and through the technology by which we advance.
The PennEast Pipeline Company is accepting applications from eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, afterschool, summer and youth development programs and educational institutions for its PennEast Powering STEM Education Initiative. PennEast is awarding grants, up to $10,000, to programs focused on, and enhancing the study of, science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

This is the purpose of the STEM Scholars Program: supporting students majoring in STEM fields, such as Biology, Chemistry, and Engineering, where in your first year you will be encouraged to connect with peers who think like you do. You'll also live in the highly-coveted Northside Commons residence hall, in a wing specifically set aside for your fellow STEM scholars. Then, over the following three years, your chances to interact with your friends and fellow scientists and engineers will expand beyond those in your classes or your residence hall. Working collaboratively and combining your knowledge from multiple fields, you will be supported and encouraged to identify, understand, and directly impact real-world problems in our immediate community and beyond.
