CFWV West Virginia Engineering, Science and Technology Scholarship Program

West Virginia Engineering, Science and Technology Scholarship Program is a student financial aid program designed to enable and encourage academically talented individuals to pursue careers in the fields of engineering, science and technology. Scholarships, not to exceed $3,000 per academic year, are awarded on the basis of academic qualifications and interest in the fields of engineering, science and technology. Priority is given to West Virginia residents. Awards are contingent upon annual funding of the program by the West Virginia State Legislature.

Fairmont State joins others in Alliance for the future of STEM in WV

Fairmont State University and its partners throughout the state have received over $2.6 million dollars to continue funding West Virginia’s FIRST2 STEM Student Success Alliance. The funding is part of the National Science Foundation (NSF) INCLUDES grant program, which helps to develop and maintain a diverse, innovative workforce in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. This initiative in West Virginia is one of five such programs nationwide to receive NSF funding under this grant program.

Health Sciences & Technology Academy

The Health Sciences & Technology Academy, known as HSTA, is a one-of-a-kind mentoring program in the state of West Virginia that helps participating high school students enter and succeed in STEM-based undergraduate and graduate degree programs. HSTA marshals the efforts of hundreds of mentors―teachers, community members, higher-education faculty and staff, and the HSTA participants themselves―through a framework that supports students facing social and financial challenges to obtaining a diploma and moving on to college.

The Carnegie STEM Excellence Pathway is a free, strategic planning process to improve STEM education at your school or district. The Carnegie STEM Excellence Pathway is built on the belief that school systems, individual schools, departments, and individual teachers can improve their STEM education practices through a positive, collaborative approach. It is designed to help the widest possible range of school districts and schools adopt best practices in STEM education.

WVU Center for Excellence in STEM Education

In keeping with WVU’s strategic goal of excellence in research and innovation, five Mountains of Excellence that represent multidisciplinary areas of strength and opportunity were created. One area is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education. Four colleges initiated a strategic plan focused on a cluster hire of faculty into the WVU Center for Excellence in STEM Education (WVUCE-STEM).
